Q. How long will the Bali thatch roofing last?
A. The Bali thatch is a natural grass, so its lifespan will vary depending on the climate and conditions. For example, the thatch will last longer in dry conditions than damp, so it is difficult to give an exact figure. On average the thatch lasts approx. 8-10 years.

Q. What is the benefit of having a thatched roof over something like Colorbond?
A. There are benefits to both; it depends on the purpose of the hut and also your personal preference. Bali thatch has a traditional tropical feel to it and suits pool areas perfectly; it keeps you cool under the hut, as the insulation from the grass drops the temperature by around ten degrees.Colorbond is available in many different colours to match in with any home, has a more modern feel to it and will not be damaged by the weather. Colorbond, however, does not insulate as thatch does, but can be remedied by using a ply lining.
